SEO & Google

How long does it take for new posts to show up in Google?

There is no fixed time, and no tool can force it. Google decides when to crawl and index each page, and Google itself says crawling can take from a few days to a few weeks. Established sites that publish often are usually crawled sooner than brand-new sites, and Google does not index every page it finds.

What helps Google find your posts sooner:

  • Add your site to Google Search Console and submit the XML sitemap from your SEO plugin.
  • For news, turn on the optional Google News sitemap in SEO Settings → Sitemap Integration and submit its address too.
  • Keep new posts linked from your homepage and category pages, and let internal linking connect related stories.
  • Publish at a steady pace in one niche, with original, useful articles.

In Search Console, the URL Inspection tool shows whether a post is indexed and lets you request indexing for an important page. IndexNow speeds up discovery on Bing and other IndexNow engines, not on Google.
