Google News sitemap, News SEO and IndexNow

Turn on the optional Google News sitemap and IndexNow, and set your news publisher details.

These features are optional and off by default. You find them in AI AutoPost → SEO Settings.

Google News sitemap

Tab Sitemap Integration:

  • Google News sitemap (only when no other plugin provides one) – turn it on.
  • News sitemap: posts from the last … hours – 48 by default (12 to 72).
  • List the news sitemap in robots.txt – on.
  • Keep noindex posts out of the sitemap – on.

After saving, the tab shows the address, for example https://yoursite.com/mcp-news-sitemap.xml. Add this address in Google Search Console → Sitemaps.

If another plugin (for example Yoast News SEO or Rank Math) already makes a news sitemap, the tab says A news sitemap is already made by …, so the AI AutoPost news sitemap stays off. This avoids two news sitemaps.

Note: A news sitemap helps Google find your news faster. It does not get you into Google News by itself. Google decides that.

News SEO

Tab News SEO fills the news details in your schema:

  • News publisher name (empty = site title)
  • Default news category (empty = post category)
  • Use tags and keywords as news keywords
  • News location (city or region, optional)
  • News author – the WordPress post author, or your publisher (organisation)
  • News section (empty = primary category)

Also check the Schema tab: Publisher name and Publisher logo URL.

Google Discover

Tab Google Discover:

  • Discover readiness check – shows in each post if it meets Google's published Discover guidelines (large image, clear headline, and more).
  • Recommended featured image width (px) – 1200.

Readiness only means the post meets the guidelines. Discover traffic is never guaranteed.

IndexNow

Tab Indexing Controls:

  • IndexNow: notify Bing, Yandex and other IndexNow engines when a post is published.

Google does not support IndexNow. Google finds news through your sitemap and links. AI AutoPost does not use unofficial "instant indexing" tricks.

After changing these settings

Click Save SEO settings. If the sitemap address shows "not found", go to Settings → Permalinks in WordPress and click Save Changes once.
