Write the length straight into the prompt, ideally as a range: Rewrite the article below as a news post of 400–600 words. The AI is told to follow the word count in each prompt, including any minimum and maximum.
- Prompt Builder: choose an Article length of 300 words (breaking news, short sources) or 500 words (normal stories). The AI aims for about 10% more or less.
- Shorter than the source: the AI condenses the article to your length and does not go over the maximum.
- No length in the prompt: the article is not summarized or shortened.
- Short source: if the source has little detail, the AI writes a shorter post instead of padding it with filler. This is on purpose. Use Auto-detect full article so the AI gets the full text, and a Minimum word count of about 120 to skip very short items.
Avoid mixed signals such as "1,500 words" plus "be brief" — one clear number or range works best.
