Plugin update problems

How AI AutoPost updates work, how to check for a new version and what to do if an update fails.

How updates work

AI AutoPost updates like any other plugin:

  • WordPress checks for a new version from time to time.
  • When one is available, you see it in Dashboard → Updates and on the Plugins page.
  • On AI AutoPost pages, a notice says AI AutoPost 1.x.x is available — you have 1.x.x. with Update now.
  • You can turn on Enable auto-updates for AI AutoPost on the Plugins page.

Your campaigns, settings and posts are kept. After the update the plugin stays active and its background task is created again automatically.

Check for a new version now

  1. Go to AI AutoPost → Settings.
  2. In Plugin Licence, click Check for Updates.
  3. You see Checked! Visit Plugins page to see if an update is available.
  4. Open Plugins and click update now under AI AutoPost.

Keep your licence active; the update check uses it.

The update does not appear

  • Click Check for Updates as above. WordPress otherwise checks only every few hours.
  • Clear any caching plugin's cache and reload the Plugins page.
  • Check that your server can connect to algopointai.com.

The update fails

If WordPress shows an error such as "Download failed" or "Could not copy file":

  1. Download the latest ZIP from algopointai.com/download
  2. Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin and upload it.
  3. WordPress asks to replace the installed version. Choose Replace current with uploaded.

Your campaigns are stored in the database, so they are kept.

Warning: Do not delete the plugin to reinstall it. Deleting AI AutoPost from the Plugins page removes its campaigns table and settings. Deactivating is safe; deleting is not. Export your campaigns first if you must delete (see Clone, export and import campaigns).

After updating

  • Open AI AutoPost → Settings and check that Cron Schedule shows ACTIVE.
  • Check that the licence still shows ACTIVE.
  • Open one campaign and click Run Now to test.

Requirements of new versions

New versions need WordPress 6.2+ and PHP 7.4+. If WordPress says the update needs a newer PHP or WordPress, update those first (ask your host). See Requirements.

Something broke after an update

Send us a ticket with your WordPress version, PHP version, AI AutoPost version and a screenshot of the Log or error. See Contacting support.
