No image or image download failed

What to do when articles are skipped for having no image, or when images cannot be downloaded or saved.

Updated 1 view

Every AI AutoPost post needs a featured image. Image problems show in AI AutoPost → Log.

"no image in the feed item or the article"

The full message is SKIPPED "…" — no image in the feed item or the article. Neither the feed nor the article page had a usable photo.

What to do:

  • Set Content extraction method to Auto-detect full article (recommended). The article page often has a photo even when the feed does not.
  • Use a different feed from the same website. Some section feeds include photos, others do not.
  • Replace feeds that never give images.

The skipped article is remembered, so the campaign moves on to the next one.

"image could not be downloaded after 3 attempts"

The photo exists, but your server could not download it. Common reasons:

  • The source website blocks downloads from servers, or is slow.
  • The image link has expired.
  • Your hosting blocks outgoing connections or has a firewall rule.

The campaign tries the same article again on the next run. After 3 failed runs the article is skipped: failed 3 times — skipped, the campaign moves on to the next article.

If this happens for every article, ask your host whether outgoing HTTP requests are allowed. If it happens for one website only, replace that feed.

"Image REJECTED — downloaded file is …, not a valid image"

The source sent a web page or another file instead of a photo. Only JPG, PNG, GIF and WebP are accepted. Usually this feed's images are protected. Replace the feed.

"image could not be saved to uploads directory" or "Image WRITE FAILED"

Your server could not write the file. The Log line shows if the folder exists, if it is writable and how much disk space is free.

  • Check that wp-content/uploads/mcp-images exists and is writable (folder permission 755 is usual).
  • Check your hosting disk space. A full disk is a common cause.
  • Ask your host to fix the folder owner and permissions if needed.

Images inside the article are missing

  • Images that were not checked by Logo Protection are removed from the post on purpose.
  • If an article image cannot be copied to your Media Library, the original link is kept.
  • With Feed content as-is, there are usually no article images.

The same photo shows twice

Usually the first image in the article is removed when it is the featured image. If your theme still shows it twice, tick Strip first image from content (after setting as featured image) in the campaign.
