Every post from AI AutoPost gets a featured image. Articles without any image are skipped, because a news post without a photo looks unfinished.
How the featured image is chosen
For each article AI AutoPost looks, in this order, for:
- The largest image in the feed item. Many feeds give several sizes; the biggest one is used.
- The article's share image (the photo used when the page is shared on Facebook or WhatsApp). This is used when the feed has no image, or when the feed image is a small thumbnail under 400 pixels wide.
- The first image inside the article.
If none is found, the Log says SKIPPED "…" — no image in the feed item or the article. and the campaign moves on.
Download and save
- The image is downloaded, with up to 3 attempts.
- Only real image files are accepted: JPG, PNG, GIF and WebP.
- It is saved in your uploads folder (
wp-content/uploads/mcp-images) and added to the Media Library. - WordPress makes its normal sizes (thumbnail, medium, large), so your theme can show the right size on every screen.
- It is set as the featured image with ALT text.
If the image still cannot be downloaded, the article is tried again on the next run. After 3 failed runs it is skipped. See No image or image download failed.
Images inside the article
With full article extraction, photos inside the article are imported too, with their captions.
- Up to 6 article images are copied to your Media Library, so your posts do not depend on the source website.
- If the first image in the article is the same photo as the featured image, it is removed from the text so it does not show twice.
- Images that were not checked by Logo Protection are left out of the post.
- If you prefer no first image in the text, tick Strip first image from content (after setting as featured image) in the campaign.
Image SEO
When the SEO Engine is on, images also get an SEO-friendly file name, a title, a description and ALT text. ALT text comes from the source's own ALT text or caption, or names the story topic. It never invents what is in the picture. See SEO Settings.
Note: AI AutoPost does not create AI images. It uses the photos the source provides.
